After a long winter break…we finally have the Champions League again. Round Sixteen would have some of the most interesting matches up to date…if you haven’t been keeping up…let me update you with what has happened, on Tuesday…Paris Saint-Germain defeated
Bayer Leverkusen four-nil, Barcelona calmed the wrath of Manchester City and beat them two-nil. Following that, on Wednesday, the current champion Bayern Munich faced a new hot-up-and-comer Arsenal…the German side was able to score twice against the Gunners leaving the game two-nil, Atletico Madrid was able to net one against an A.C Milan that did not look so convincing. Furthermore, this past Tuesday…Borussia Dortmund was able to defeat Zenit St. Petersburg from goals of Mkhitaryan, Reus, and Lewandowski, Manchester United failed to deliver and fell two-nil to an Olympiacos team that looked really well. In addition, this past Wednesday current La Liga leaders…Real Madrid routed Schalke 04 six to one, perhaps the match that saw most goals, not only was this an incredible game BUT it marked the return of Cristiano Ronaldo after a three game suspension, he also claimed the title of Top Goal Scorer in the Champions League. Following that game, Chelsea and Galatasaray did no harm to each other and both netted and left the game in nothing more but a TIE. So far it hasn’t been such of a surprise to see who has won their first leg matches, the game that shocked me a bit was the Manchester United vs, Olympiacos game because they looked terrible, Manchester United did not look composed. I am looking forward to the second leg games… which most winning teams will be playing at home, so far it seems things are definite for some, BUT let’s keep in mind that nothing is ever guaranteed and things always change in soccer/football. Feel free to sound off. I felt an overview would be better as opposed to writing about just one single game. Shame on me for neglecting my blog, but school has kept me busy, plus volunteering with the sports show does not help!! But…I WILL TRY to update it often. Au Revoir!
